Responsibilities:
Under general direction of the Recreation Superintendent or Recreation Manager; supervises; plans and administers a variety of recreation programs, events, and trips.
Nature of Work:
Supervises daily business operations for the department, including leadership of customer service efforts; recruits, hires and trains staff; leadership of seasonal customer service staff at pools and tennis; Full Time and Part Time staff customer service and RecTrac training; Serves as RecTrac administrator for the department; reports on data collected through RecTrac; Works collaboratively with Administrative Assistant to meet service expectations and lead front desk operations; focused on enhancing the customer experience; special projects Supervises the daily operation of the Amelita Mirolo Barn, a 4,000 square foot reservable parks facility, seven park shelters, meeting space at the Senior Center and Municipal Services Center; provides programming and event support to the department; devises and implements revenue generation strategies; manages vendors and contracts; provides quality customer service and ensures needs are met; ensures that all spaces are clean and well maintained; maintains facilities supplies and controls inventory; develops marketing plans; manages social media accounts.
The City of Upper Arlington is constructing a 110,000 square foot Community Center with an anticipated opening date of Spring 2025.
The Operations Supervisor is critical to the customer service provision at our recreation facilities.

Supervises assigned staff (e.

, recommends and develops policy; recruits and interviews applicants; recommends hiring, discipline, and firing; leads, motivates, collaborates, empowers, rewards, coaches, and praises; trains and instructs employees; assigns and directs work; appraises and evaluates performance; addresses complaints and resolves problems).
Identifies recreation trends, needs and programming opportunities; supervises, develops, plans, and implements recreation programs, events and trips outside the City; maintains responsibility for participants; establishes rules of conduct; recruits and coordinates volunteers, attends meetings; collaborates with instructors, participants, staff, vendors, volunteers, and community organizations to ensure the success of programs; secures vendors for programs, events and trips; develops and collaborates with volunteer committees for events and programs; develops and maintains staff training manual/materials, develops and implements policies for programming; evaluates performance of volunteers, contractors and vendors.
Reviews and revises existing recreation programs for validity, fiscal responsibility and compliance with Departmental/City policies.
Develops, evaluates and administers program and event budgets, publicity and social media.
Develops networks with other professional, community groups; attends conferences, seminars, and related courses; participates in professional organizations; promotes City recreation programs to the community.
Serves as liaison between citizen work groups and participants for a variety of programs and events; prepares reports and other documentation as assigned.
Maintains licenses and certifications as required, if any.
Demonstrates regular and predictable attendance.

Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree from an accredited four-year college or university in Recreation, Sport Management, Public Relations, or a related field and two (2) years of progressively responsible related experience; or any combination of training, education, or experience which provides the desired knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the essential functions of the position.
LICENSURE OR CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
CPR certification; First Aid certification; Certified Parks and Recreation Professional desired; valid State of Ohio Driver's License and the ability to maintain insurability under the City's vehicle insurance policy.
