Planning Consultant

The Planning Consultant is responsible for the management, coordination and development of clinical planning projects, as well as the review and evaluation of new or existing business systems.
The position requires work with Medical Staff Leadership, management, administration, internal departments and staff, paid consultants, and external organizations.
The role of the Planning Consultant is to execute and communicate complex analyses to Hospital and Medical Staff leadership, via business plans, project coordination and in-depth examination of business and market environments.
The Planning Consultant also is responsible for coordination and execution of off-site construction projects.
In addition, the position assists with strategic planning activities, budget forecasting, and other staff functions.

Strategic Planning Lead and/or assist with production and evaluation of institutional and programmatic strategic plans, including plan development, objective measurement, and identification of implementation steps.
Assist service line leaders and other departments in creating a vision and strategic objectives that align with the organization's strategic plan.
Complete strategic analyses for development and tracking of the organization's strategic plan and individual objectives therein.
Business Planning Lead and facilitate development of business plans for new services and/or initiatives supporting a variety of new and/or existing programs with multi-disciplinary groups.
Conduct quantitative and qualitative research, conduct market research, project volumes, identify resources required and provide implementation guidelines.
Work with Marketing and Communications to develop recommendations regarding market research and marketing plans.
Work with Budget and Financial Analysis to develop financial analysis and forecast for business plans.
Fundamental Planning and Analyses Assist and guide forecasts of demographics, service demand, capacity, etc.
for short and long-range strategic, programmatic and facility plans and processes.
This includes forecasting volumes for the annual operating budget.
Design, develop and maintain planning and business development documents and reports in a succinct, graphic dissemination of information.
Perform research and develop analyses of external and relevant services, creating service line, benchmarking and competitor market assessments.
Maintains knowledge of appropriate resources and tools, including but not limited to, planning monthly reports, census data, consulting and national association tools and reports (e.
g.
CHA), Qlikview, etc.
Develops working relationship with other planners and regulatory agencies in the region/state/nation.
Carries out special projects for PBD management and/or NCH Administration.
Off-Site Facility Development Serve as owner representative for off-site facility development, both new construction and tenant finish in lease/owned space.
This includes coordinating the business plan, collaborating with administration and clinical staff to determine facility needs, managing the RFP and selection processes, effectively working with architects, general contractors, sub-contractors, and city government officials to complete construction of the building, managing all related costs and schedule, and assisting operational leads with start-up.
Develop relationships with design, development, and construction vendors as well as collaborative internal departments.

KNOWLEDGE , SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED Masters Degree in Health Administration, Business, Planning, or Public Health Administration strongly preferred 1-3 years of academic and/or professional experience in systems planning required, healthcare experience preferred; OR 1-3 years experience in health care development and/or physicians relations required.
Analytical skills to assemble, evaluate and understand large and complex information and studies, and to identify current and future trends.
Extensive experience in spreadsheets and presentation graphics required.
Excellent communication and organization skills to effectively interact with medical staff, consultants external professionals, administrators, and employees at all levels.
There is significant contact with all levels of the organization, outside vendors and community representatives.
Ability to convert ambiguity into a clear framework for advancement of work product and deliverables.
Clinical knowledge to understand healthcare-specific information, including DRG and CPT coding, as well as other healthcare and healthcare business terminology.
