Mainframe Engineer/Systems Programmer (Infrastructure Specialist 4)

This position is telework eligible (hybrid) under the current DAS telework agreement.
About Us:
The Ohio Department of Administrative Services (DAS), Office of Information Technology (OIT) is seeking an experienced and motivated IT professional to serve as a Infrastructure Specialist 4 to join the Infrastructure Services Division team.
Led by Director Kathleen C.
Madden, the Ohio Department of Administrative Services is the engine of state government, providing innovative solutions and supporting the efficient operation of state agencies, boards and commissions.
The Office of Information Technology at DAS delivers information technology (IT) and telecommunication services to State of Ohio agencies, boards and commissions.
What You'll Do:
Under general direction evaluates, selects, installs and maintains complex systems using CICS, DB2 and/or IMS:
Advises management of new releases and features and assists in creating project plans for DB2 and/or IMS software Utilizing project plans, makes assignments to lower-level systems programmers, operations analysts and database administrators Provides technical assistance and instruction to lower-level systems programmers in the use of DB2 and/or IMS software products, support tools and the completion of task assigned Reviews standards for DB2 and/or IMS systems and makes recommendations for implementing and revising procedures as they relate to DB2 and/or IMS software installation and maintenance Proposes guidelines for evaluation and selecting software and supportive tools Acts as a project leader in development efforts.
Prepares request and recommendations for software purchases and license renewals Build skills in containerization databases for hybrid workloads.
Installs, customizes, and administers CICS and MQ Series for OS/390:
Responsible for CICS and MQ Series software support products, productivity tools, codes exits and customizes installation Sets up queue resource definitions; performs recovery/restart in the event of a failure; manages MQ security, performance and problem determination Administers, reports, and maintains RACF Responsible for adding, removing, and updating entries within RACF security software Generates reports for audits as required Provides input into policies as they relate to RACF best practices Installs, tests, maintains and customizes a variety of software products including complex data base productivity tools:
Responsible for DB2 and/or IMS software products, support software products and productivity tools, codes exits, customizes installations Monitors DB2 and/or IMS systems performance, makes changes to improve same, installs maintenance as required Provides some support in installing relational data base products and supportive software Provides backup support for other senior programmers relative to data base software Recommends new and upgraded releases of DB2 and/or IMS software to management:
Consults with vendor, technical support, customers and data base support personnel to resolve technical issues Documents technical information and operating procedures for use by operations, system programmers, data base administrators and customers Utilizes a variety of productivity and performance tools to resolve productivity and other technical issues Confers with customers and other technicians in identifying requirements and measuring success of implementation of DB2 and/or IMS and supportive software What's in it for you:

Qualifications Minimum
Qualifications:
Completion of undergraduate core program in computer science or information systems; 36 mos.
combined work experience in any combination of the following:
evaluating current it policies, procedures and practices, recommending and/or leading IT driven change efforts, participating and/or leading activities to achieve project tasks/meet deadlines, and performing solutions design including 12 mos.
work experience in the primary technology specified by the agency in the position description & job posting.
-Or completion of associate core program in computer science or information systems; 42 mos.
combined work experience in any combination of the following:
evaluating current IT policies, procedures and practices, recommending and/or leading IT driven change efforts, participating and/or leading activities to achieve project tasks/meet deadlines, and performing solutions design including 12 mos.
work experience in the primary technology specified by the agency in the position description & job posting.
-Or 60 mos.
combined work experience in any combination of the following:
evaluating current IT policies, procedures and practices, recommending and/or leading IT driven change efforts, participating and/or leading activities to achieve project tasks/meet deadlines, and performing solutions design including 12 mos.
work experience in the primary technology specified by the agency in the position description & job posting.
-Or equivalent of minimum class qualifications for employment noted above.

The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
