Financial Reporting Accountant, Principal

Job DescriptionPosition SummaryResponsible for the preparation and review of timely and accurate financial statements and other reports on a quarterly and annual basis for various AEP legal entities, including SEC registrants. Also responsible for the preparation of various internal management reports and other supporting tasks, such as the creation or posting of journal entries, participating in monthly closing process, or participating in monthly consolidation process. Responsible for providing leadership and supervision on projects related to accounting and reporting issues.Principal Accountabilities1) Lead in the preparation and review of SEC and other financial reports, including Forms 10-K, 10-Q, Form 1, and 3Q.2) Lead in the preparation and review of journal entries to support consolidation process and financial statement preparation process.3) Lead in ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial data for internal and external customers.4) Perform analytical review of financial data.5) Prepare or post journal entries to support consolidation process and financial statement process.6) Apply complex accounting theory.7) Interpret and apply accounting regulations and pronouncements.8) Keep abreast and stay informed of the latest rules, regulations, and reporting requirements of the SEC, FASB, and Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC).9) Assist in the Edgar and XBRL processes required for SEC filings.10) Maintain compliance with Sarbanes-Oxley control processes.11) Perform project management activities.12) Supervise employees on project specific tasks.13) Interact with internal and external audit staff.14) Lead in cultivating positive business relationships between financial reporting and AEP business partners. Minimum RequirementsEducationBachelor's degree in accounting/finance, or business with a concentration in accountingExperienceFive (5) to eight (8) years' experience in industry accounting or two (2) to five(5) years in public accounting.Additional InformationCPA certification preferred.1) Exposure to the utility industry preferred.2) Public accounting experience preferred but not required.3) Competency in written and oral communication.4) Proficient in Microsoft applications.5) Experience with business reporting tools preferred.6) Detail-oriented with an ability to employ a logical approach to accomplish objectives and solve issues.7) Ability to lead and supervise others.8) Ability to promote a positive culture within a team setting.9) Continuous improvement mindset.
Salary Range:
$80K -- $100K
Minimum Qualification
Accounting, Corporate FinanceEstimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
