The Opportunity As the Manager of Category Development, you will build consumer and customer focused strategies, tactics, and category solutions for Abbott brands.
You will conduct analysis of multiple data sources, translating consumer and shopper behaviors and insights to actionable retail strategies and selling presentations.
You will report to the Director of Shopper Experience.
What Youll Work On Establish strong and productive relationships with external retailer partners and internal category teams to establish Abbott as the indispensable partner for all category management needs and unlock mutual growth opportunities.
Identify and develop strategic growth platforms across all the categories Abbott leads; shape retailers strategic omni category direction based on shopper understanding/insights at a macro and micro level.
Guide development and execution of Category Management resources that provide solutions for our brands and categories that we lead.
Conduct on-going internal and external team business reviews to measure, evaluate and present category performance; and provide vision on future growth opportunities and capture items at potential risk.
Oversee development of online and offline assortment/merchandising optimization, support new product introductions, track distribution of new and current assortment.
Provide leading edge Category Management solutions, using and understanding IRI and Nielsen syndicated scanning data, Household Panel, market demographic data, customer point-of-sale, loyalty data, and systems used to produce the information for Category reviews.
Build and develop selling presentations to respond to retailer questions, competitive challenges and brand selling opportunities.
Required Qualifications 5
years of progressively increasing responsibility in roles that cover at least 2 of the following functions:
Category Management, Sales, Business Analytics or Shopper Insights, within the consumer-packaged goods or retailer industry.
Strong skills in understanding, using, and employing syndicated data, customer card/POS data, and panel data to lead internal and external wins through sales and share growth (experience with data sources such as Nielsen, IRI, NPD, Numerator, Luminate, Stratum, EYC, and or ExtraCare Spectra/demographics) Mastery experience with JDA Experience working on multiple priorities across multiple customers simultaneously.
This includes experience in leading a project team of various skill levels.
Advanced knowledge of shopper insights, retail landscape, assortment strategies, and merchandising tactics with the ability to identify and report findings, opportunities, and make recommendations.
Excellent communication and organizational skills.
