Summary:
The Domestic Court Officer maintains and assists the Magistrates in the administration of their daily docket and cases.
Reviews all submitted documents (paper and electronic) for compliance with statutory language and court requirements.
Electronically files court forms and documents.
Acts as a liaison between the Magistrate, attorneys and the litigants.
Prepares and reviews monthly statistics and reports.
Responds to inquiries and requests as necessary.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND
Responsibilities:
Provides support to Domestic, Juvenile Custody and CSEA Magistrates; assists in the administration of their dockets, cases, and paperwork; acts as a liaison between Magistrates, attorneys, litigants, and outside agencies.
Checks in parties, attorneys, Court staff related to case, etc.
Provides Assignment with dates for next court appearance.
Prepares, reviews and/or electronically processes all Court documents including Magistrate decisions, etc.
Returns documents to filers for incorrect or missing information.
Obtains information on cases from court files as needed by the Magistrate.
Responds to inquiries from court personnel, attorneys and the public regarding court procedures and policies related to cases.
Obtains all court files (electronic or paper); sets-up courtrooms on a daily basis; and records and reports disposition of cases.
Tracks and maintains data on cases; tracks due dates of Entries and grants extensions.
Monitors the courtrooms for volatile situations and ensures a controlled environment in the courtroom and adjacent areas.
Performs other duties as assigned MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
High School Degree or GED required; Minimum of three (3) years' experience working for a court and knowledge of court procedures and policies; Knowledge of Domestic statutory requirements preferred; Strong computer skills; Proficient in Microsoft Word and Adobe Acrobat Job Type:
