Summary:
Under the direction of the assistant director, Recipient Benefits Processing and the manager, Recipient Benefits Processing, receive and process death reports, analyze documents and records to determine eligible recipients.
Pay lump-sum and monthly benefits, determine eligibility and process benefit changes and assist in other areas of benefits processing.

Responsibilities:
Process notifications of recipient deaths and determine beneficiary and payment options.
Analyze the member's record and determine beneficiaries and benefits payable.
Prepare all the appropriate documents for the benefits payable.
Analyze returned documents and process all payments.
Determine eligibility, prepare estimates and make benefit changes due to marriage, divorce and beneficiary death.

Qualifications:
High School diploma or equivalent required.
Demonstrated ability to analyze information and appropriately apply business rules to process requests such as, but not limited to, eligibility and benefit calculations.
Ability to complete work in a positive manner and support the mission and vision of STRS Ohio and Member Benefits.
Excellent math and analytical skills required.
Excellent organizational skills and a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail required.
Ability to work independently and in a team environment while meeting deadlines with minimal direct supervision required.
