: Associate's Degree Basic Function: Provide waterfront supervision and responsibilities as assigned by the camp director. Plan and implement daily activities.
Responsibilities:- Under direction, ensure that the activities of this position and all relevant programs are consistent with the mission, vision and values of Catholic Charities, Diocese of Cleveland. - Participate in waterfront training exercises and skills tests. - Report any waterfront time problems to the appropriate authority. Inform supervisor of any problems or incidents that might become a concern for parents, campers or staff. - Plan and implement a variety of activities that reflect a progression of skills and reflect the theme. Activities that will be determined by weekly groups and personal goals. - Ensure campers are participating in all program areas in a manner that would not cause harm to themselves, others or the environment. - Conduct a safe and efficient program in keeping with standards of American Camp Association and other governing bodies. - Be aware of all special needs and concerns of campers and staff. - Encourage and support other staff members in their job responsibilities. - Establish a positive and cooperative relationship with supervisors. - Act according to the risk management plan; be knowledgeable of the risk management plan. - Participate in all overnights scheduled at designated site(s). - Supervise campers in all camp, and special event situations, at lunch, during sports on the fields, lookout during swimming and field trips or other areas as assigned. - Assist campers with restroom trips and personal care as needed. - Complete paperwork which may include forms, incident reports, schedule logs and others as appropriate. - Clean up daily as assigned. - Assist in care, preparation and cleaning of program equipment. - Maintain supplies for use in program including normal maintenance and care of camp equipment used. - Attend all staff meetings. - Participate with campers in all aspects of camp. - Perform other duties as necessary to accomplish objectives. Requirements:- Combination of education and experience normally represented by a High School diploma or equivalent with six months to a year experience working with children. - Previous experience working with youth in a formal setting is preferred. - Must be at least 18 years of age. If driving, must be 21 years of age at time of hire. - If driving, must have a verified safe driving record in the State of
ohio
with no greater than four (4) points, and provide a copy of license. Driving record will be obtained through Motor Vehicle Abstract. - Knowledge of the growth of children and concern for their emotional, physical and spiritual needs. - Knowledge and understanding of camper information including but not limited to behavioral issues, health concerns and other facts unique to campers. - Enjoy the outdoors. - A desire and the ability to work with children outdoors. - Current certification in First Aid and CPR; American Red Cross or equivalent Lifeguard Training certification. - Ability to make quick decisions in life threatening situations. - Flexible and good at working in a team atmosphere. Willingness to assume multiple roles and job assignments throughout the summer. - Must have good oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills. - Must be well organized, detail oriented and ability to maintain confidentiality. - Ability to show patience and courtesy when working with people. - Must be able to sit, stand, walk, squat and reach above head. - Must be able to life/carry up to 50 pounds unassisted. - Must be able to physically assist campers to stand, sit, use restroom and walk. - Final applicant is required to be fingerprinted to complete background check. The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
