General Statement of Duties:
The Senior Financial Analyst will be responsible for ensuring compliance with all contractual related financial obligations of external retail clients including accounting treatment, required reporting, analysis of results, and invoicing of client expenses. Provide internal partners with forward thinking and timely analysis of marketing spend. Position will also be responsible for all month-end processes including journal entries and balance sheet reconciliations.
Supervision Received: Works independently under direction of Accounting Manager. Assist other team members as necessary, and help lead special projects including process improvement initiatives.
Examples of Duties:
Analyzes financial and accounting information from Retail Client Contracts to ensure that all financial obligations are being met and properly accounted for in accordance with accounting policy and GAAP
Analyzes financial statement line items to provide insightful commentary around variances versus budget, prior year and forecast to help better understand results and make more informed decisions
Performs responsibilities related to tracking client marketing spend, month-end close, preparation of journal entries and account reconciliations
Provides FP&A; and Client Sales with timely financial information, which accurately measures financial results and enhances decision making for accruals, budgets and forecasts
Leads client sales partners in review of monthly marketing spend versus plan
Integral part of new client start-ups including review of financial terms, establishing reporting requirements, and preparation of documentation needed to support the implementation and/or renewal of clients
Gathers information as requested for internal and SOX audits
Completes monthly client invoicing on transactions/expenses as defined in the contracts
Recommends improvements to policies, procedures, and processes that improve consistency, accuracy and timeliness as well as strengthen internal controls
Supports Accounting management with requests from other members of Finance, Pricing, and Client Sales as needed to carryout responsibilities of the business
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Candidate should possess solid accounting and financial reporting skills including knowledge of GAAP
Highly organized with strong attention to detail and accuracy
Ability to research, summarize, evaluate, and interpret information in contracts
Ability to develop conclusions founded on reason, logic and interpretation
Excellent oral and written communication skills across all levels and functional areas outside finance
Ability to independently manage multiple projects, prioritize, and meet critical deadlines
Ability to identify and resolve problems, and recommend process improvements
Minimum

Bachelors degree in Accounting required; CPA or MBA a plus
Experience:
5 - 7 years Accounting experience

MS Office and strong PC skills especially with Excel
Experience with PeopleSoft Financials
Experience with Hyperion Essbase, Microstrategy, WINSQL and other database query tools
