Summary:
The Buyer will focus on achieving assigned goals and objectives including gross margin, sales and total inventory turn.
Selects and purchases merchandise including type, quality, source, timing, delivery, mix and promotion for assigned merchandise category.
Creates and implements plans to maximize gross profit by coordinating sales, gross margin, inventory turnover, cost of promotion and markdowns for assigned categories managed.
Selects and evaluates vendors and negotiates product cost.

Responsibilities:
o Achieve gross margin, sales and total inventory turn objectives for two Associate Buyerso Select and purchase merchandise including type, quality, source, timing, delivery, mix and promotion for assigned merchandise categoryo Create and implement plans to maximize gross profit by coordinating sales, gross margin, inventory turnover, cost of promotion and markdowns for assigned categoryo Recommend and direct the development and implementation of category merchandise strategy and tactical planso Partner with Advertising/Marketing to maximize merchandising opportunities and recommends programs/plans to supervisor for implementationo Select and evaluate vendors and negotiates product cost, may require supervisor inputo Develop and communicate effective merchandising programs at store levelo Ensure store merchandising standards in close partnership with the store operations management team, including store displays and visual merchandisingo Ensure beneficial vendor alliances, identify new business opportunities consistent with short and long-term strategieso Manage and maximize category product mix, gross margin, promotional expenditures and markdowno Maintain effective category merchandise control systems including replenishment, open-to-buy, seasonal, etc.
, working closely with the following functional partners to achieve business and organization objectives:
o Planning & Allocation teams to ensure that assigned category merchandise forecasting is in line with business planso Ensure the timely flow and presentation of merchandise to store locations through close coordination with store operations and distribution/transportation logisticso Conduct annual and on-going performance evaluations and recommends annual merit increases based on performanceo Schedule work and take disciplinary actions when requiredo Mentor/coach subordinates and ensures that development program(s) are maintained and are on tracko Effectively communicate subordinate development objectives and assists in the attainment of personal growth and performance maximization goalso Comply with all federal, state and local laws and regulations regarding employment Required Skills & Competencies:
o High degree of analytical and negotiation skillso Strong verbal and written communications skillso Solid coaching/mentoring skills
Experience:
o 5-7 years merchant experience, 1-3 years merchandising team lead experience, preferred Education:
o B.
S.
Degree in Retail Merchandising, Marketing or Business, preferred.
Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.
