Training and Development Specialist

Description Thinks, communicates and behaves as a cause-driven leader and role model for other staff and members when it comes to desired staff behaviors; promotes youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility in all job-related functions.
Organizes and executes annual training needs assessment for YCO; develops annual training plan to address needs of current YMCA staff and volunteers; annual plan should be aligned with and support YCO's strategic initiatives.
Provides updates to supervisors on their staff certifications, needs, and opportunities for training.
Responsible for the design and implementation of necessary training to ensure that we are meeting association standards for volunteers and those that work with children and youth at the Y.
Ensures that the pool of qualified trainers is reflective of type/number of trainings needed; recruits and assists new trainer candidates through the certification process & monitors trainer quality.
Develops, coordinates, and ensures the delivery of quality training; ensures that the training offered complies with YCO and YUSA standards.
Serves as a resource to YCO leaders in order to be proactive in planning to prevent lapses in certifications.
Maintains training documents and records required by YMCA of the USA.
Works with the YMCA HUB to advocate for training, communicate eligible opportunities, and ensure our teams have access to what is needed.
Ensures that all financial aspects of training - from billing to IDT's, etc, are managed appropriately and in a timely manner.
Models relationship-building skills (including Listen First) in all interactions with staff, volunteers, members, and the community.
Fosters a climate of innovation to develop programs which support the Y mission, goals, and strategies.
Represents and promotes the YMCA in the local community and nationally, and develops positive working relationships with other organizations, businesses, and governmental entities.
Develops, maintains, and models collaborative relationships with community agencies in service delivery areas.

Requirements
Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree in human services, social services, business, health education or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Four or more years of management/training experience, preferably in a YMCA or other nonprofit agency, preferred, but not required.
Ability to work effectively with diverse groups and viewpoints from all social and economic segments of the organization and community.

Strong knowledge of LINK, and YMCA Learning and Career Development resources.
Ability to foster a collaborative team approach to solving challenging situations.
Proven track record of developing authentic relationships with others.
Ability to establish and maintain collaborations with other YMCA's and the community organizations.
Knowledge Word, Excel, Power Point, Kronos, YMCA LINK, LCDC, and web-based programs are needed.
Training requirements:
CPR for the Professional Rescuer, First Aid, O2 within the first 60 Days of employment.
(If not already certified, obtain certification within 60 days.
) Knowledge of aquatics, childcare, leadership competency and other basic YMCA trainings.
Team Leader level certification.
(Within 2 years.
) Become a trainer in at least 1 training venue.
Recommend becoming a trainer in multiple areas.
(Within 1 year.
) ALL certifications must be maintained during employment Strong knowledge and/or certifications in outside related areas (i.
e.
ACE, AFAA, Red Cross, ASHI, American Heart Assoc.
) Passionate belief in the Y's cause of nurturing the potential of all youth, supporting healthy living for all people and finding ways to help and support our neighbors.
Understanding of the nature and purpose of the YMCA and the respective roles of volunteers and staff.

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
