Vehicle Description Cruisin Classics is proud and excited to offer this absolutely stunning 1957 Chevrolet Bel Air Convertible! The 57 Bel Air convertible is one of the most iconic American-made automobiles of all time and it has come to be a symbol of 1950's Americana.
This tri-five comes to us today wearing a beautifully resprayed coat of its original color of Matador Red paired with a crisp white convertible top - a stellar color combination! The exterior fit and finish of this Bel Air is fantastic - laser straight sides, excellent paint quality, even body panel gaps, and spectacular gleaming chrome.
The front-end styling is breathtaking, with hood rockets, bumper bullets, gold egg crate grille, colorful Chevrolet crest, and bright chrome.
The chrome carries on to the sides of the car with the 57-only style body side molding that runs the length of the car.
Bright window trim, door handles, dual side mirrors, rocker molding, and fender accents all add to the cool look.
The rear of the Bel Air features its famous chrome topped fins ornate tail light and rear bumper assembly.
Adding to the rear end's appeal is a continental kit with extra chrome and a matching spare tire.
The power-operated bright white convertible top is in excellent condition with a clear rear window and a red boot cover for when it's down.
This whole beautiful package is perfectly complemented by red steel wheels with spinner-style hubcaps and BF Goodrich Silvertown white wall tires.
The rear wheels are partially obscured by well-fitting fender skirts.
Lift the hood and find a very tidy black engine bay that's home to what we believe to be the original 283ci V-8.
According to the car's owner for the last 37 years, 25 years ago he had dual 4-barrel carburetors with the rare and super-cool bat-wing air cleaner installed.
At that time he says that the correct heads and pulleys for the dual 4's setup were also installed.
This is a rare and unexpected upgrade on an already over-the-top car! Other highlights under the hood include orange Chevrolet valve covers, power brakes (drums), and a correct Delco battery topper.
The V-8 was originally mated to a 2-speed Powerglide transmission but is now paired to a TH350 3-speed automatic that puts the power down via a 10-bolt rear end.
Luxurious good looks continue when you open up the driver's door to a red interior with silver accents.
The ornately designed door panels are a perfect match with the bi-color front and rear bench seats - both in very good condition.
The new-looking red hookloop carpet and working courtesy lights welcome you into the spacious and comfortable interior.
Ahead of the driver is a large red OEM steering wheel with a chrome horn ring.
The red-painted steel dash is home to a speedometer, temperature, and fuel gauges, warning lights, and turn signal indicators.
A silver accent band travels across the dash from side to side, continuing the bi-color theme.
Also in the dash are wiper controls, heating and vent controls, and an AM Wonderbar radio (inop.
).
Other amenities include a glovebox with a working light, an analog clock (inop.
), and a chrome tissue dispenser mounted under the dash.
Once the top goes down and you can see the interior and exterior at the same time, the whole look of the car climbs to an even higher level of old-school cool! Back in the trunk, you'll find a rubber trunk mat, a jack, a shop manual, a car cover, and a set of black rubber Chevy floormats.
This is your opportunity to own a true icon of American automotive history that has a timeless appeal! It's not every day that such a well-preserved Bel Air convertible comes available, especially one in this eye-catching color combo with dual fours and a bat-wing air cleaner under the hood!
